Please introduce yourself
Hey everyone! I am artist & producer Nick Kandler from Los Angeles, CA. I spent the entirety of 2021 developing and recording my latest body of work.
When did you start music?
I started music Sophomore year of high school. So hmm, that was 2012. Wow time flies!
Do you play an instrument?
I play guitar and keys well enough to produce. Before i could produce I’d write songs on the guitar. It still ends up happening that way sometimes. I like to think that if the song sounds good with just a vocal and a guitar, the production is just icing on the cake.
Can you tell us the story behind “Stay”?
My first single “Stay” represents the trials and tribulations of a toxic relationship and exemplifies how a bad situation kept me yearning for more.
What is your routine when you are in studio?
I usually start with some sort of guitar riff or loop. I like to go into each song by attacking the chorus first and building around that. Sometimes I’ll have fire hooks without verses that I’ll come back to and write when I feel inspired by the song again. Sometimes it’s the next day or a month later. Just depends really.
How do you start want you want create a song?
This is the same answer as the previous question. Although if we’re talking routine.. coffee, coffee, coffee.
